  • ok I need help  :sign0104:

I am doing 4ftx4ft square floors which wiggle, so there is approx 1/2 inch to an inch space so the floors slide back and forth on castors/steel bearings. we are looking to contain the floor so no toes get caught or the board doesn't pop up and knee-cap someone. we have looked a support around the top (metal) but they cost a fortune. IDEAS??

  • Is this a hallway? Is there more than one panel in a row? You'll need the walls to overlap the moveable floor, with a seal. Check out some door weather stripping at Home Depot. The one in the middle should work. It will also keep stuff from jamming up your bearings so the floor will keep moving :great:

  •  :drinks: The way I'm reading this is you want the floors to move? I can think of 2 ways to do what you want. #1 drill a large hole through the frames ,2 per side ,line them up, the n put a  bolt that is smaller in diameter, with large fender washers then put self locking nuts on the bolt. The fender washers will keep the bolt from pulling through the holes. #2 move the casters out to the corners of each section . They should not be able to flip then. Hope this helps.  :drinks:

  • Thanks guys, i'll have a wee looky at them.

Each Floor has 12 - 16 castors/bearings per 4ft sq floor and I have 3 of these butted against each other in a 24ft hallway. So 2 4ft sq ramps and 3 4ft sq moving floors.

Am I babling, geesh of course I am

  • Since you'll have exposed edges between each panel, you might want to attach a flexible rubber piece between each one. This will keep stuff from falling through, and limit any digits getting smashed. It might limit side-to-side movement a bit, unless you put the rubber in a sliding channel.
